A dependable wicketkeeper-batter who made his ODI debut way back in 2004, but got a second chance to be in the Indian team again after he proved himself in franchisee cricket. Dinesh Karthik aka DK later got known to be a reliable hitter down the order due to his T20 skills he brought into the ODI game. DK has played 94 ODIs to date with a modest average of 30.2, this included nine 50s.

The last time Dinesh Karthik played in an ODI was in 2019 and is out of contention for being selected for the upcoming Asia Cup. He is most likely set to announce his retirement from international cricket very soon. His time with the Indian team is most likely up and this is due to the younger talent knocking on the doors and wanting that similar opportunity. He faces fierce competition with the likes of Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson are all set to cement their position along with other batters such as Surya Kumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, and Tilak Verma are in the scheme of things as well.

Whenever DK does bow out of the game, he can go with his held head high knowing that he got recognised and selected again due to his hard work. His career in the commentary box now awaits.
