The most runs scored in ODIs are scattered with Indian batting legends. The top 10 contains Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs), Virat Kohli (12,898* runs), Sourav Ganguly (11,363 runs) and Rahul Dravid (10,889 runs). Open the list slightly more to top 15, and there you find MS Dhoni (10,773 runs) and current skipper Rohit Sharma at 9,825 runs.

Rohit needs 175 more runs to join an elite list of batters to achieve 10,000+ ODI runs. There are overall 14 batters ahead of him. Before the Asia Cup commences, Rohit will lead India in a three-match ODI series against West Indies where he has the chance to break into the 10,000 runs club.

Rohit’s ODI career could be looked at pre-ICC Champions Trophy 2013, and post-ICC Champions Trophy 2013. His stats before the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 were 88 matches played, 2065 runs scored, averaging 30.8, whereas during and post that tournament, it surged to 7760 runs scored in 155 matches played, averaging a mighty 57.4. His so called “2nd life” presents mighty stats which not many other players can match up to.
