Afghanistan will be coming into this tournament on the back of a 0-3 series defeat to Pakistan, which was played in Sri Lanka. While their bowlers were at their best, not letting them make huge scores and even bowling out the Babar Azam-led side for 201 in the first ODI, their batting proved to be their biggest weakness.

The evidence was the first match, in which they were bowled out for just 59 runs in a chase of 201 runs. Afghanistan managed to make 300 in the second ODI, thanks to Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 151, but the rest of their batting was blown away by the Pakistani bowling attack, something that was repeated in the third and final ODI as well.

Only Rahmanullah Gurbaz and, to some extent, Ibrahim Zadran have been successful against top-level bowling units, but the rest of their batters need to step up to support others.
