A player who started his career with leg-spin has made it big with his exploits with the bat. Steve Smith made his debut in 2010 and has already scored over 8,600 runs in 92 Test matches at an impeccable average of 60.89, with 37 fifties and 30 tons.

In terms of bilateral records, Smith garnered 1,742 runs in 28 innings, with eight tons and five fifties. The stats does show his ability to convert starts into three-figure scores.

In the Boxing day Test fixture in Melbourne, the 33-year-old registered his best knock of 192, with 15 fours and two sixes. He will be key to Australia's plans in 2023 as well.
