MS Dhoni served India cricket efficiently with his batting, wicketkeeping, and captaincy skills. Riding on his stunning captaincy skills, India lifted three ICC trophies. In 2007, Dhoni got his first assignment as a skipper to lead India in the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa. Playing his part efficiently, Dhoni helped India clinch the trophy as the Men in Blue registered a narrow five-run win over their arch-rivals Pakistan in the final.

Witnessing his fabulous captaincy skills in the T20 World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed Dhoni as the full-time India skipper in white-ball cricket. In 2011, India won the World Cup after 28 years. Dhoni smashed an unbeaten 91-run in the final against Sri Lanka and helped India seal the match comfortably. After 2011, the veteran guided India to the 2013 Champions Trophy win with his leadership skills.

Along with international cricket, he is also a prominent captaincy figure in IPL. In 2010, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the IPL and Champions League T20 titles under the dashing wicket-keeper batter. After the amazing 2010 season, CSK dominated IPL under Dhoni and registered their second title triumph. After 2011, Dhoni couldn’t win any IPL trophy for CSK for seven years but in 2014, he led the Yellow Army to their second Champions League T20 title.

In 2018, CSK returned to IPL after a two-year ban for their involvement in betting activities. The Chennai-based franchise made an incredible comeback in the tournament under Dhoni, lifting the IPL trophy for the third time. After 2018, Dhoni won two more titles for Super Kings as skipper in 2021 and 2023.
