Bowlers: Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakaravarthy, Matt Henry

Mohammed Shami finally won his first ICC title after 10 unsuccessful attempts in the past. The Bengal speedster underwent surgery on his right Achilles tendon after the ODI World Cup in 2023 and missed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 with a knee issue. He returned to international cricket during the white-ball series against England, which preceded the Champions Trophy. Shami started the campaign with a five-for versus Bangladesh. In the semi-final, he bagged three wickets against Australia. The 34-year-old ended with nine wickets from five games at an average of 25.89 and a strike rate of 27.33.
Varun Chakaravarthy was not initially picked in India's provisional squad for the Champions Trophy. However, his exemplary form in T20Is forced the selectors to include him in the lineup, leaving out Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chakaravarthy repaid the faith shown in him by the selectors as he bagged nine wickets from three games at an average of 15.11 and a strike rate of 20. The mystery spinner took five wickets in the group game against the Kiwis.
Matt Henry was unfortunately ruled out of the final after suffering a shoulder injury. However, he still finished as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, bagging 10 wickets from four matches at an average of 16.70 and a strike rate of 18.80. The right-arm seamer picked up five wickets against India in the group stage. He also bowled well in a high-scoring semi-final clash against South Africa. New Zealand felt his absence in the final.
