11. Mohammed Shami
Bumrah won’t be the only senior pacer returning from injury, as even Mohammed Shami has not been in action for two months after being ruled out from the entire Bangladesh tour. He was in excellent form in the T20 World Cup and performed well in a different role as a middle-overs enforcer, showing improvement as a white-ball bowler.
Last year, he played only three 50-over games in England and picked up four wickets. The experienced pacer troubled the batters with the new ball and formed a potent partnership with Bumrah.
It might not happen in this series, and India will most likely go with three specialist pacers, given the conditions. However, in the future, the team might want to play a third spinner, which leaves room for just one in Shami and Siraj. This three-game rubber could be crucial in determining the pecking order.
