IPL 2023: 3 players who can replace Reece Topley in Royal Challengers Bangalore
Reece Topley has been ruled out after sustaining an injury in RCB's first match against Mumbai Indians.
2. Chris Jordan
It was rather surprising that Chris Jordan went unsold in the last players'auctions held in December. The Barbados-born Englishman had earlier represented RCB in the IPL and therefore, could be in the realms of RCB's consideration to replace Topley. He also holds the experience of playing for franchises such as Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, and thus, has enough IPL experience in his kitty.
A noted T20I specialist, he has played 87 matches so far and has aggregated 96 wickets. He strikes once in every three overs and has an economy of 8.72. He grabbed attention of the subcontinent audience after delivering a rather economical 19th over in the 2016 T20 World Cup Final against West Indies which was played at Kolkata's Eden Gardens. He had almost shaped a victory for England before all such plans were ruined by the swashbuckling Carlos Brathwaite.
He can deliver handy knocks with the bat as well and has amassed 432 runs across his career where he remained not out in 24 out of 53 innings. He has a highest score of 36 and an impressive strike rate of 132.51. Keeping these numbers and his past association with the franchise in mind, Jordan could be seen replacing Topley in the Faf du Plessis-led side.
