1. Mumbai Indians signing Cameron Green for INR 17.5 crore

Cameron Green is one of the most exciting prospects in Australian cricketing circles. The 23-year-old has played 13 ODIs and scored 290 runs at a strike rate of 90.34. On the bowling front, he has picked up 11 wickets at an economy of 5.03. In the T20Is, the ace all-rounder has smashed 139 runs at a stunning strike rate of 173.75 and bagged five wickets for his side.

Green has shown a lot of promise in the international arena and it was expected he will garner the interest of many franchises at the IPL 2023 auction. But not many would have anticipated what followed. Mumbai Indians, in a bid to fill the all-round void in the team, splurged an insane sum of INR 17.5 crore to sign the Australian cricketer.

Green is not an experienced customer in the T20 circuit, having played only 21 games in the shortest format, of which just eight are international matches. Also, he is yet to feature in the Indian Premier League. Therefore, spending such a hefty sum to pick the Australian all-rounder might not be a smart move.
