Lucknow Super Giants produced a sensational run in their debut season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). LSG notched up a string of victories and finished third on the points table with nine wins in 14 games at the end of the league stage. But unfortunately, they lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high-voltage clash in the Eliminator and were knocked out of the tournament.

Lucknow will take a lot of positives from their fantastic campaign in 2022. The think tank assembled a well-rounded squad with a nice blend of youth and experience and it certainly paid off. With the next season in sight, it is likely most of their players will be retained. However, LSG could move past certain players who either did not perform as per expectations or did not fit into the team’s plans.

Let us look at the players LSG might trade in the trading window:

5. Ankit Rajpoot

Ankit Rajpoot has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit and has bagged a total of 233 wickets in 69 first-class matches. The 28-year-old has been around the IPL circuit since 2013 but has not been able to light up the tournament with his bowling exploits.

The Uttar Pradesh Pacer has shown plenty of promise in the 29 matches played in the lucrative T20 tournament and LSG picked him for the 2022 season. This was a golden chance for Rajpoot to make a mark but the right-arm seamer was not given a chance to prove his worth.

LSG unearthed a gem in Mohsin Khan in the recently concluded IPL season. The left-arm pacer had a spectacular campaign and took 14 wickets in nine games at an impeccable economy of 5.97. His rise meant Rajpoot could not break into the playing XI. With the likes of Avesh Khan and Mohsin at LSG’s disposal, the franchise could part ways with Ankit in the forthcoming trading window.
