9. Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami was roped in by Gujarat Titans at INR 6.25 crore. Banking on his huge experience and marvellous bowling skills, the franchise gave him a chance to lead the bowling attack of the team. Enjoying the confidence of the team management, he showed his best and became the best bowler of the GT in the 2022 edition.
Clinching 20 wickets in 16 games at an economy rate of 8.00, he was one of the biggest heroes of the franchise’s phenomenal success. Beginning the season with a 3/25 spell against Lucknow Super Giants, he contributed to GT’s maiden victory and became the Player of the Match. Later, in the game against the Sunrisers too, he showed his brilliance again with his 3/39 spell.
In the next edition of the league, the pacer will look forward to supporting the team with his destructive bowling. This year, he replaced injured Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 World Cup 2022 and claimed six wickets in six games for India, at an outstanding economy of 7.15.
