IPL 2023: Flop XI from fifth week
These players delivered disappointing numbers to their respective teams in the fifth week of the T20 tournament.
4. Devdutt Padikkal
For Rajasthan Royals (RR), the previous week was unfortunate as they lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) despite putting up 212 on the board. In the losing cause, their opening batter Yasahasvi Jaiswal performed exceptionally and notched up his maiden IPL century against the Men in Blue.
In the batting line-up, Jaiswal succeeded in dominating the MI bowling attack but all other batters failed to showcase their best. Before the MI game, Devdutt Padikkal was performing decently, and looking at that, he was expected to provide a solid knock to his side again.
After the scalps of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson, Padikkal arrived at the crease but didn’t stay for long and followed his successors to the pavilion with his score of two off four deliveries. The left-handed batter got hunted by Piyush Chawla, who picked up Buttler earlier with his disciplined bowling.
