IPL 2023: Flop XI from fourth week
These players looked out of their rhythm in the fourth week of the IPL 2023.
5. Aiden Markram (Captain)
Aiden Markram hasn’t lived up to the expectations in this year’s tournament. So far, he hasn’t provided anything solid to SRH with his captaincy. With only two wins in seven games, SRH are in the ninth position on the IPL points table. While talking about his batting performance, the Protea has played only a couple of decent knocks for the team.
In the fourth week, Sunrisers played two games and ended up on the losing side on both occasions. Against the quality CSK side, Sunrisers struggled in all the departments and lost the game by seven wickets. Their batting order completely floundered in front of CSK bowlers and their skipper Markram also couldn’t take the CSK bowling line-up to the cleaners, piling up only 12 runs.
Sunrisers’ next challenge was David Warner-led DC on their home turf and they lost that contest as well by seven runs. In this game, SRH looked excellent with the ball and stopped the visitors at 144 after losing the toss. Following the low total, Sunrisers started at a slow pace and got into trouble after losing four wickets at 79. With the collapse of the top order, SRH were looking for a vital contribution from Markram but here too, the skipper’s dismal batting (three runs off five deliveries) added to their chasing woes.
