IPL 2023: Ranking top 10 captains
Among skippers, some looked confident while a few failed to deliver desired results to their teams.
2. Hardik Pandya {GT} - 9/10
Hardik Pandya couldn’t hand the second trophy to Gujarat Titans (GT) with the five-wicket defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2023 final but the veteran impressed his team’s supporters with his aggressive captaincy skills. Riding on his leadership talent, Gujarat played two consecutive finals of the league, and this achievement couldn’t be belittled due to just one loss.
Like their debut season, Gujarat became the table-toppers again in the 2023 league round, as well, under Hardik. Throughout GT’s campaign, Pandya looked confident and dominated his opponents with his magnificent captaincy and batting.
Against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana stadium, he held his nerves in the intriguing contest and led his team to a seven-run win with his amazing 66 off 50. In Gujarat’s terrific campaign as runners-up, the 29-year-old chipped in with 346 runs in 15 innings of 16 matches, at a strike rate of 136.75.
