IPL 2023: Top 5 batting performances from fourth week of tournament
Though there were several good batting performances, there were a few that stood out.
1) Rahane 71* vs KKR
One cricketer who has outperformed himself and taken everyone by surprise is Ajinkya Rahane. This season CSK have unleashed a different side of Rahane. Earlier he was known for taking advantage of fielding restrictions in powerplay, then playing through the innings. Now, he has changed his style of play completely.
His fearless batting continued against KKR as well. At Eden Gardens, he came to bat when CSK were settled. He was setting his eyes; even Dube came after him and had a better scoring rate. In the fourteenth over, he went after Umesh Yadav for 6, 6 and 4. as he got close to 200 SR.
His death over exploits against Russell, then Varun was something unexpected. He took the team score to 235, highest IPL score at Eden so far. Rahane batting like a dream has been the biggest positive for Chennai Super Kings. What sets him apart from others is he's technically strong. He's playing textbook shots to score runs which is a rarity these days.
