IPL 2023: Top 5 batting performances from fourth week of tournament
Though there were several good batting performances, there were a few that stood out.
2) Jason Roy 56 vs RCB
KKR are yet to find a fixed opening pair for them, but they've got one opener in Jason Roy. The English batter is in mighty form for quite some time now. From the Delhi match to CSK, now against RCB he stood tall. His franchise came into this game with four losses in a row. They desperately need to win to keep their play-off hopes alive, when they took on RCB.
From the first over itself, he showed positive signs. He took down Mohammad Siraj then David Willey. He was taking his time before launching sixes. He chose the last powerplay over against Shahbaz Ahmed to muscle through. He tonked three humongous sixes in a row. Then followed by a dot, then another biggie.
This 25-run over changed the course of their innings. Though KKR had a mediocre batting in the middle phase, the push Roy gave earlier kept them ahead of RCB. He's hitting sixes for fun now, clearing his front leg. If KKR find someone to complement Roy; they would be a threat to the bowlers.
