IPL 2024: PBKS vs GT Match 37 - Top 3 player battles to watch out for
GT suffered a heartbreaking loss in the last over when the two faced each other earlier this season.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are gearing up for their second meeting in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). GT suffered a heartbreaking loss in the last over when the two faced each other earlier this season. This time, the 2022 champions head to the PBKS's backyard - the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh - to see if they can get revenge.
In the first half of the series, both teams had an inconsistent run. With three wins from seven races, GT have a slight lead in the points table and are in eighth place. PBKS are just one place behind them after winning two out of seven matches. Meanwhile, both teams are coming on the back of losses in their previous matches and are desperate to get back on track.
PBKS and GT have met each other four times in the tournament’s history and interestingly, both teams have shared two wins each. The two have shared some intense battles in this short span, including the one we saw a few weeks ago. With quality players in their line-up, the stage is set for another riveting contest on Sunday, April 21.

Here are the top three player battles to watch out for in IPL 2024: PBKS vs GT, Match 37 -
3. Harpreet Brar vs David Miller
David Miller has not been a regular feature for GT this season. The South African big-hitter played the last game and is likely to face his former franchise on Sunday. Miller, who usually bats at number 4 or 5, will be tasked with the finishing role. The southpaw is likely to get competition from spinner Harpreet Brar.
The left-arm orthodox spinner is known for taking crucial wickets and being economical at the same time. Miller may be a big threat for PBKS but Shikhar Dhawan will look to counter that with Brar's spin magic.
2. Shubman Gill vs Kagiso Rabada
Shubman Gill has scored the most runs for GT against PBKS (261), while Kagiso Rabada has taken the most wickets for PBKS against GT (9). This makes it clear that a battle is going to take place between the best players of their respective teams.
Rabada has delivered 52 balls to Gill in the IPL and the GT opener has scored 69 runs at a strike rate of 132.69 and was dismissed twice. When the two teams met earlier this season, the right-hander scored an unbeaten 89 to take the team to the competitive total. The Proteas pacer, who has taken 10 wickets so far, will aim to clean up the rival skipper early to avoid maximum damage.

1. Rashid Khan vs Shashank Singh
Shashank Singh will be a big headache for Shubman Gill and Co. in the upcoming match. GT had the game in their pocket until Shashank came out and produced a knock to remember for ages. His 61 off 29 balls quickly shifted the momentum in Punjab’s favour and helped them snatch a three-wicket victory.

Rashid Khan couldn't do anything against the power-hitter, but GT will rely on the Afghan spin wizard to prevent a repeat of the Shashank show. Rashid is GT's key bowler and it remains to be seen how he will fare against the uncapped Indian in the middle overs.
