The Indian Premier League has seen great success throughout its existence and this year has been no different. The joy and craziness each match brings to the table is unparalleled and each year there have been many instances of records being shattered and new ones being created.

The tournament has witnessed unrealistic levels of batting performances and has seen players becoming superstars overnight and some players fading away too. But there have been some consistent performers who have made it their routine to churn out runs in this cricket festival. Their consistency and amount of runs piled up have been a treat for their respective teams.

Mr. IPL (Suresh Raina) has always been considered as the batter who showed great consistency and played match-winning knocks for his franchise. He was a terrific left-handed batter who changed the course of the match with his quick-fire knocks and used to be on the top of the table when it came to leading run scorers in the IPL. However, after his retirement from the game, there has been a great contest for the top spot for the leading run scorers in IPL.

Here's a look at 5 Batters who can finish their IPL careers as the leading run-getters:

5. Ajinkya Rahane (4340 Runs in 156 innings)

Ajinkya Rahane has been the topic of discussion for his comeback into the Test side for the World Test Championship final against Australia. The out-of-favour batter has been hitting the right notes in the ongoing IPL and was prolific in the domestic circuit as well which has helped him massively make a comeback into the national side.

The batter has been able to play with a terrific strike rate in this year's IPL and has been performing consistently with contributions that have helped CSK in crucial clashes. Rahane has always been seen as a technically sound batter who refrains from playing rash shots and this year has been no different. He has been able to score freely and with a high strike rate which shows the mindset he is in and the confidence he possesses to carry on this form into future games.

The resurgence of Rahane has been delightful for the fans and the way he is scoring runs shows that the batter is a top contender to lead the charts for leading run scorers in the tournament. The career which has spanned around 16 years has seen him grow massively and pile up runs at ease. The 34-year-old batter has three to four years of cricket at the minimum left in him, and the way he is playing, he can surely top the tournament list for leading run scorers by the time he retires.
