IPL: 5 Indian youngsters who can be captains in near future

Long before Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma led the national team, they gained captaincy experience in the Indian Premier League (IPL). While Kohli captained Royal Challengers Bangalore for the first time in 2011, Rohit made his captaincy debut in 2013. Both players did brilliant jobs with their franchises as well as on the International stage for the Nation. The IPL has always played an important role in shaping the careers of young players and there are oodles of youngsters who are plying their trade in the league at present. Many of them are expected to be the future captains of their IPL franchises and of the national team as well. Look at 5 youngsters in IPL who could be the future captains of their IPL franchises: 5. Ishan Kishan The prodigy from the land of MS Dhoni followed his hero's footsteps and became a keeper-batsman, and even went on to captain his U19 side. Ishan Kishan might become the Mumbai Indians' future captain. The team is renowned for developing new players. After leading his team to the U19 World Cup finals, Kishan gained maturity and an IPL deal as a result. The teenage player was then purchased by Mumbai in the auctions for a record-breaking sum, making him the then-second-most expensive player. He has been leading Mumbai in the league in a fantastic manner. It won't be shocking to see Kishan captain an IPL team in the future if he can keep up his fantastic job. 4. Tilak Varma Another talent found and being groomed by the Mumbai Indians side is the left-handed batter from Hyderabad - Tilak Varma. He was bought at a handsome amount after his not-so-amazing U19 World Cup but Mumbai saw the talent for the long term. Ever since his debut, he has been doing a great job for the side and has been scoring runs consistently. He went on to debut for the Indian side as well based on his IPL performances. The team has now been grooming him as the middle-order as well as the finisher for the long term. Cricket Pundits have lots of good things to say about him and it might soon be a possibility to see him lead a side in the IPL. 3. Rinku Singh Another superstar born from the league is Rinku Singh. He has put up such stellar performances with the bat that he has quickly made a name for himself with the audience. He has become a crowd’s favourite due to his supreme match-finishing skills as he has won several matches on his own. He has been able to keep himself calm under immense pressure situations and took his team over the lines. He got to play for the Indian side and did a similar job there as well. He might be the next player to lead the KKR side or maybe some other IPL team in the near future. 2. Ruturaj Gaikwad When he was playing for the victorious Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2021, Ruturaj Gaikwad stole the show by winning the Orange Cap. In addition, Gaikwad made his debut on the international scene as well. He has appeared in several T20I and ODI games. In the Indian Premier League, the elegant batter has been amazing with his performances top of the order. The 26-year-old is a powerful opening batsman, who has also smacked a century in Indian Premier League. He seems the obvious choice for leadership roles for the Chennai Super Kings once MS Dhoni decides to hang his boots. 1. Yashasvi Jaiswal This southpaw from the land of Mumbai has taken the world by storm ever since he started playing cricket. He was first noticed when he played for the U19 side at the World Cup. He did not have a great first season in the IPL but was backed by his side to present a brilliant performance in the next season. Yashasvi Jaiswal got to play for India on that basis and has been doing wonders ever since. Whether it's the T20s or the Tests, he has simply been amazing with the bat. His calmness makes him a viable option to lead a team in the Indian Premier League and he might be the next captain for his current side - Rajasthan Royals.
