IPL: 5 Teams who hold major home records
These sides have looked exceptional against their opponents at their respective dens.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is busy delivering superb action to its supporters with its 16th season. For the next few weeks, 10 IPL sides will battle with one another and strive hard to lift the distinguished trophy. This season, the tournament has returned with its 'home-and-away format' which will benefit the teams that have great records at their home grounds.
In the last 15 years, some franchises have maintained amazing records at home as they have succeeded in turning their home grounds into fortresses. Along with familiar home conditions, local support has also played a crucial part in making these teams formidable at home.
Talking more about it, here are five teams whose records are phenomenal at their home grounds:
5. Punjab Kings (PBKS)- 43 wins out of 87 matches
Punjab Kings (PBKS) could be considered the most inconsistent side in the league. After playing a lot of cricket in the tournament, they are the only team to qualify only twice for the playoffs to date. However, their numbers are decent at their home grounds.
In the last 15 years, they opted for Nagpur's Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium and Indore's Holkar Stadium as their home grounds, along with the Inderjit Singh (IS) Bindra Cricket Stadium, Mohali and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, Dharamshala.
The 2014 runners-up have played 87 matches on their home turfs so far, of which 43 have been won by them. At the IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, they have won 31 matches out of 57. While talking about their numbers at their second home ground HPCA Stadium, their record has been quite well.
Since 2010, the Punjab-based franchise has played nine games at the scenic stadium. Of all the contests, they have emerged victorious in five matches. Considering these numbers, Punjab fans will expect their team to deliver fine shows in their matches in Dharamsala and Mohali this season.
