4. Alec Stewart
Alec Stewart was a bankable name in the international arena. He featured in 133 Test matches and scored 8463 runs at an average of 39.54. In the 50-over format, the former wicketkeeper-batter scored 4677 runs at an average of 31.60.
England took the stage alongside the West Indies in the third game of the five-match Test series in August 2000 in Manchester. The visitors batted first and were bundled out for 157 runs. It was Stewart’s 100th Test and on the special day, he played a remarkable knock and scored 105 runs off 153 deliveries to take England to 303 runs in their first innings.
West Indies piled up 438 runs in their second innings and the Test match ended in a draw. Stewart was adjudged the Player of the Match for his astonishing knock. The Surrey-born hung his international boots in September 2003.
