Nathan Astle was one of the finest openers to play the game of cricket. The star right-handed batter played for New Zealand for 12 years from 1995 to 2007. In One-Day Internationals (ODIs), he is the fourth leading run-getter with 7090 runs with 16 tons and 41 fifties in 217 innings of 223 matches.

However, his record is ordinary in the World Cup. In 22 matches in the tournament, he has scored only 403 runs with two centuries and a fifty. He is also the batter who has the most ducks in the World Cup, along with Pakistan’s Ijaz Ahmed. In 1996, Astle made his World Cup debut with a century against England in Ahmedabad.

In the next game against the Netherlands, he got dismissed on a duck, and from there he failed to score in double-digit again in the competition. Astle appeared for the last time in the World Cup in 2003 and this time, he accumulated three ducks in the competition.
