Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan's strongest XI
Pakistan's endeavours will be to clinch the coveted Asia Cup trophy after 11 years.
7. Mohammad Nawaz
Mohammad Nawaz will be expected to do wonders with both bat and ball in the Asia Cup 2023. With the bat, he has the ability to take any bowling unit to the cleaners on his day. Batting in the lower-middle-order, his duty will be to don the role of a match-finisher. Along with Haris and Shadab, Nawaz also has the potential to come heavily on bowlers in the final overs of innings.
Discussing his overall batting numbers in ODIs, the left-handed batter has hit 283 runs in 22 innings of 28 matches at a strike rate of 87.34. However, Nawaz is yet to prove himself against quality sides as he hasn’t produced anything special against big teams such as New Zealand, and England.
This Asia Cup, he will get a chance to showcase his batting mettle and become a match-winner for Pakistan with the bat. In the bowling department, his performance is decent as the 29-year-old has claimed 37 wickets at an economy of 4.94. Nawaz will have to support Shadab Khan to bolster Pakistan’s spin attack
