3. Wriddhiman Saha’s unbeaten 115 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2014
Punjab Kings (PBKS) concluded their journey in the 2014 IPL edition as runners-up, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by three wickets in the final at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. PBKS failed to lift the trophy, but their wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha’s unbeaten 115-run knock off 55 deliveries was hailed.
At the toss, KKR captain Gautam Gambhir emerged victorious against his counterpart George Bailey and elected to field first. In the huge game, Virender Sehwag and skipper George Bailey fell cheaply, but Saha held his nerves and built a 129-run partnership with opener Manan Vohra.
The stumper-batter completed his century in 49 deliveries but didn’t throw his wicket. He returned to the pavilion after notching up 115 off just 55 deliveries. His knock also helped Kings to deliver a 200-run target to Knight Riders.
