PBKS 5 best batting performances of all time in IPL
Punjab Kings (PBKS) are yet to win their maiden title in the Indian Premier League.
2. Virender Sehwag’s 122 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2014
In 2014, when Punjab clashed with CSK in Qualifier 2 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Virender Sehwag showcased his batting mettle and registered his best IPL score. Before the match, MS Dhoni won the toss and invited Punjab to bat first.
Dhoni’s decision went against his team, as PBKS openers Sehwag and Manan Vohra looked relentless against bowlers from the first over of the contest. Vohra departed after scoring 34 off 31, but Sehwag was merciless towards CSK’s bowling unit and helped his side post 226 runs on the board.
The veteran returned to the pavilion in the 19th over of the game after scoring 122 off 58. His knock contained 20 boundaries (12 fours and eight maximums). Chasing 227, Chennai could accumulate only 202 runs in 20 overs, and Sehwag became the recipient of the Player of the Match award in his team’s 24-run win.
