1. Venkatesh Iyer vs Rajasthan ( 62* off 31 balls and 6 for 20)

Venkatesh Iyer set the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy ablaze with his outstanding all-round performance against Rajasthan on the first day of the tournament. Madhya Pradesh won the toss and elected to bat. Iyer slotted in at number three played a stunning innings of 62* runs off just 31 balls to take his side to a competitive total of 173/5.

Chasing 174, Rajasthan had a solid start and were well-paced at 81 for 1 in 11 overs. Iyer was brought into the attack by skipper Parth Sahani and he provided the much-needed breakthrough by getting rid of Yash Kothari (36 runs off 37 balls) in his very first over. And then he kept piling the pain on the opposition by getting wickets in heaps.

The 27-year-old in the full quota of four overs took six wickets for just 20 and Ashok Menaria & Co. were sent packing for 135 in 19.2 overs. Unfortunately, Iyer was ruled out of the ongoing tournament after sustaining a broken ankle. His last game of the season was against Railways on October 16.
