9. Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a consistent performer in the IPL circuit. He was the tournament's highest run scorer in the year 2021. On the back of his stunning performances, the 25-year-old broke into the national team in the shortest format.
However, the opening batter failed to impress in the international arena. Gaikwad could only manage 135 runs in nine games at a strike rate of 123.85. Also, the Pune-born put up a mediocre display for his franchise Chennai Super Kings in this year’s Indian Premier League.
Gaikwad scored 368 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 126.46. The dashing stroke-maker was not able to do enough at the bigger stages to be in the reckoning for a World Cup spot.
