6. Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson has been one of the flamboyant batters in the Indian circuit. The wicket-keeper batter has been a consistent performer be it IPL or domestic cricket but has failed to make it big in the international arena.
In the recently culminated IPL, the 27-year-old aggregated 458 runs at a strike rate of 146.79 in 17 matches, and courtesy of which, the swashbuckling cricketer was drafted into the national T20 side. Samson played some fabulous innings and was in the reckoning for a ticket to Australia.
With an intense auditioning for the wicket-keeper slot, the Kerala batter was contesting for a backup batter position. Deepak Hooda had a stellar campaign in the IPL and for India as well. He offered flexibility with the bat and was a handy option with the ball. Therefore, the selectors decided to go ahead with Hooda ahead of others including Samson for the T20 extravaganza.
