5. Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow has been in the form of his life this year. He was central to England's revival in red-ball cricket and was an important member of the T20 setup. But the ace-batter suffered a lower limb injury and would not take part in the upcoming marquee event.

Bairstow suffered the injury as a result of a "freak" golf accident while playing in Leeds. He missed the third Test against South Africa and will not feature in the global event as well.

The Yorkshire-born is known for his fearless batting approach and the world saw glimpses of the same in the IPL 2022. In 11 games for the Punjab Kings, Bairstow smashed 253 runs at a strike rate of 144.57. The charismatic cricketer is a game-changer with the bat and his unavailability in the World Cup is a massive blow for the Jos Buttler side.
