T20 World Cup 2022: 3 Players who can replace Jasprit Bumrah in India's squad
India will kick-start their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on October 23.
1. Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami has been carrying the mantle of the Indian bowling attack along with Jasprit Bumrah in Tests and 50-overs cricket. He was also a regular feature in the shortest format till the T20 World Cup 2021 but has been sidelined from the Indian T20 setup ever since.
However, Shami lit the IPL with his stellar performances in the recently concluded season. He was the major strike force for Gujarat Titans and took 20 wickets in 16 games at an economy of 8.00. The veteran pacer rattled batting lineups with the ball upfront and was the highest wicket-taker in the powerplay this year with 11 wickets to his name.
With Jasprit Bumrah injured, India needs someone who is a genuine wicket-taker and can deliver the goods at the biggest stage. Shami has done it for Team India in the past and the Men in Blue could look at the veteran pacer to fill in the Bumrah void. The veteran pacer is part of the reserve players for the forthcoming World Cup and can be included in the 15-member squad.
