T20 World Cup 2022: 5 all-rounders who can replace Ravindra Jadeja in the Indian team

Team India has suffered a huge setback with the injury to Ravindra Jadeja. The ace all-rounder has sustained a right knee injury and is set to undergo a surgery. This has already been ruled out the 33-year-old from the Asia Cup and could potentially be sidelined for the upcoming T20 World Cup as well. However, India have some quality all-rounders who could fill the void if the veteran all-rounder is ruled out for the T20 World Cup 2022. Let us look at the top five names who could replace Jadeja in the Indian squad. 1. Axar Patel Axar Patel has been a constant figure in the Indian setup across formats. Whenever Jadeja has been sidelined due to some reason, Axar has been the go-to man for the Men in Blue. In the ongoing Asia Cup as well, the 28-year-old has been brought in as a replacement for the Saurashtra-born all-rounder. The southpaw has proved his worth on the international stage. Axar has featured in 25 T20I games and scored 147 runs at an impressive strike rate of 137.38. On the bowling front, he has taken 21 wickets at an economy of 7.34. Axar, though considered more of a bowling all-rounder, has improved his batting credentials of late. He had an amazing outing with the bat in the limited-overs series against West Indies. Also, in IPL 2022, the southpaw scored 182 runs striking at 151.67. 2. Deepak Chahar Deepak Chahar is a classical swing bowler who is more than handy with the bat. After being sidelined for months due to injury, the 30-year-old made a comeback to cricket in the-recently concluded ODI series against Zimbabwe in August. The bowling all-rounder made a decent return, picking five wickets in two outings. He is lethal with the bowl upfront, bamboozling batters with his swing. Deepak also has leg-cutters and off-cutters at his disposal which can prove effective in the later phases of the game. The Agra-born cricketer has also shown his mettle with the bat in the international arena. With the T20 World Cup being held in Australia where there will be a lot of help for the fast bowlers, Chahar’s inclusion can prove quite useful. He is currently one of the reserve players in India's squad for the ongoing Asia Cup. 3. Shardul Thakur Shardul Thakur is a hit-the-deck bowler who can provide vital contributions with the bat. In the last year or so, the 30-year-old has been a regular feature for India across formats. In the T20I circuit, he has represented India in 25 matches and picked up 33 wickets. Shardul is a wicket-taker and provides crucial breakthroughs for his team. An ever-improving bowler, the Palghar-born all-rounder has honed his skillset with the bat and bowl as per the demands of the T20 format. He has added a variety of slower bowls and cutters to his repertoire which will prove beneficial in Australian conditions. The bowling-all-rounder has proved his batting might at the highest level. He has bailed the Men in Blue out on numerous occasions with his crucial knocks. In this year’s IPL, Shardul struck 120 runs at a strike rate of 137.93 lower down the order. 4. Krunal Pandya Krunal Pandya is one of the promising all-rounders in the Indian circuit. The southpaw was part of team India’s plans until last year and can again make a case for himself for the upcoming global tournament. Krunal has featured in 19 T20I matches scoring 124 runs at a decent strike rate of 130.52 and has also taken 15 wickets at an economy of 8.1. The ace all-rounder can bowl in different phases of the game and can slot in any position in the batting lineup. The Baroda cricketer had a decent IPL 2022 campaign with the Lucknow Super Giants scoring 183 runs at a strike rate of 126.21 and picking 10 wickets at an impressive economy of 6.97. He is a like-for-like replacement for Jadeja and can be in the reckoning for the World Cup spot. 5. Washington Sundar Washington Sundar has been one of India’s premier all-rounders in the limited-overs format. The 22-year-old was in line to make it to the last year’s T20 World Cup but was ruled out due to injury. This year he is again in contention for a World Cup slot. Sundar has been more of a bowling all-rounder, but in the last year or so his batting has seen an upsurge. IPL 2022 saw him play as a finisher for the Sunrisers Hyderabad where he scored runs at a fast pace. The off-spinner has been quite impeccable with his lines and lengths and is known to contain batters with his consistent bowling. Sundar can bowl in different phases of the game and is very handy with the new ball.
