Former Pakistan player Azhar Mahmood once in an interview to ESPNcricinfo said, "batsmen win you games, bowlers win you tournaments." In the upcoming T20 World Cup, it's likely to be the case as the role of bowlers will become crucial on fast Aussie pitches.
In the marquee tournament, bowlers will play an integral part in the success of their teams. On the quick tracks of Australia, fast bowlers with lethal yorkers and bouncers will have the upper hand and will most likely play a decisive role in carrying their respective sides forward.
Let’s have a look at the bowlers who could become the highest wicket-taker in this T20 World Cup:
5. Haris Rauf
Haris Rauf's recent performance shows that he is in top form. The 28-year-old Pakistan bowler proved his mettle in the recent seven-match T20I home series against England by showcasing some match-winning spells. His performance in death overs shows that it is difficult for batters to take him on.
When it comes to Australian pitches, Rauf has enough experience as he has played plenty of cricket in the country during Big Bash League. He was a part of Melbourne Stars in 2019/20 BBL season and made headlines by picking up 20 wickets in ten matches.
Rauf, in the last edition of the T20 World Cup, made a huge contribution to Pakistan’s victories against heavyweights such as India and New Zealand. With the ball, he rattled batters and his economy rate was excellent in both games.
