T20 World Cup 2022: 5 reasons why Australia might successfully defend their T20 World Cup title
The defending champions, Australia, are once again one of the favourites to win the tournament.
2. Stable middle order
Australia probably have the strongest middle order alongside England, going into the World Cup. They have a wide array of players who can go all guns balzing from ball one, players who can accelerate the innings well, and those who can dig in too, if required. From Mitchell Marsh to Matthew Wade, Australia couldn't have asked for a more in-form middle order leading into the tournament.
The Australian middle-order isn't just stable, it is also versatile. Batters like Marcus Stoinis are highly versatile as they can accelerate with ease and can also play the anchor's role really well. It is something many teams are missing in their arsenal and that gives Australia a huge advantage over other teams.
Currently, the only concern in the middle order is Glenn Maxwell's form. In his last ten T20I innings, he has crossed the score of 20 only once. However, he is a proven match-winner in this format of the game and Australia will count on him to find his form back in the tournament.
