3. Additional fielder inside the circle
This rule can have a major say in the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup and it will also force the captain to put pressure on its bowlers to complete their overs quickly.
As per the rule, if the fielding team is unable to bowl the allotted overs of the innings within the stipulated time period, then they would be penalized by bringing an additional fielder in the 30-yard circle for the remaining overs. This means the bowling team would be able to place a maximum of four fielders at the boundary line.
The rule was recently applied in a high-pressure game between India and Pakistan where both teams were forced to put one more fielder inside the 30-yard circle. This rule was introduced by ICC in January this year and it will now be adopted in ODI matches after the completion of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League in 2023.
