Team India's T20 World Cup 2016 squad members: Where are they now?
Only five Indian players from the T20 World Cup 2016 squad are set to feature in the upcoming 2022 T20 World Cup.
13. Mohammed Shami
The experienced right-arm pacer has been named in the reserves for the 2022 T20 World Cup. Shami didn't feature in the 2016 Asia Cup. He was one of three pace specialists alongside Bumrah and Nehra but failed to make any appearance in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Hardik Pandya played all five matches as a third pace option, leaving Shami on the bench for the entire tournament.
Shami has performed exceptionally well in red-ball cricket in the last few years, including 40 wickets in the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 cycle. He was the highest wicket-taker among Indian pacers during the cycle with an impressive average of 20.47. During the 2019 World Cup, he took a hat-trick against Afghanistan to become the only second Indian bowler after Chetan Sharma to achieve the feat.
The 32-year-old pacer hasn't appeared for India in T20Is since the conclusion of the 2021 T20 World Cup.
