Top 10 ODI batters with best-chasing records
Virat Kohli’s exceptional 85-run knock against Australia in the 2023 World Cup has put him in a special place on the list of the best batters in run-chases.
5. Jacques Kallis
Jacques Kallis served South Africa from 1995 to 2014 and after serving his national side for 19 years, he ended up as the leading run-scorer for the Proteas in ODI and Tests. In ODIs, he is the only player from his nation to accumulate more than 10,000 runs. Kallis notched up 11550 runs in 309 innings of 323 ODIs.
The legendary Protea also ended his one-day career as the best chaser for his national side, scoring 3950 runs in 100 innings of 110 matches at an average of 56.42. Kallis’s best one-day score came against the West Indies in February 2004 in Johannesburg while chasing 305.
The right-handed batter chipped in 139 runs off 142 balls in his team’s four-wicket win. In the 2011 World Cup, South Africa beat the hosts India by three wickets in Nagpur, and Kallis contributed 69 runs off 88 balls and emerged as the leading run-getter for his team.
