7. Pat Cummins
In November 2011, 18-year-old Pat Cummins made his international debut in style in a Test match against South Africa in Johannesburg. After trailing in the series by a 1-0 margin, Australia were looking to stun the hosts to end the series in a stalemate with a victory in Johannesburg.
Among adept bowlers such as Mitchell Johnson and Peter Siddle, debutant Cummins looked confident and fetched seven wickets in the match to help his team win the game with two wickets in hand. The pacer also performed brilliantly in the 2017-18 Ashes, as he ended up becoming the highest wicket-taker with 23 wickets in the coveted series.
After completing 10 years in international cricket, Cummins was made the Test skipper following Tim Paine’s resignation due to the alleged 'sexting scandal'. Holding the reins, he led the team from the front in the 2021-22 Ashes. Scalping 21 wickets in four games, he did his job efficiently to vanquish the visitors comfortably at home with his leadership skills. In October 2022, Cummins got the ODI captaincy mantle as well after Aaron Finch announced his retirement from ODIs.
