Top 10 Under19 women players who have already played international cricket

After a long wait, the inaugural edition of the Women’s Under-19 World Cup will be played this year in the T20 format from January 14 to January 29. The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in January 2021 but was pushed due to COVID-19.

However, after two years, the tournament will be played involving 16 teams in South Africa. Talking about the Women in Blue, they are a part of Group D, which includes the hosts South Africa, Scotland, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In the India Under-19 Women’s squad, the selectors have included two names who could use their marvellous international experience and guide other young girls in the team and win the title.

Some of the other teams have also followed a similar path and included some experienced international players who could be excellent for them in the forthcoming competition.

Below are some international players who will feature in the upcoming Women's Under-19 World Cup 

10. Vishmi Gunaratne (Sri Lanka)

Last year, Vishmi Gunaratne made her debut for the senior team when Sri Lanka took on Scotland in the Commonwealth Games Women's Cricket Competition Qualifiers. This year, she will be seen leading the Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team in the inaugural U19 World Cup. In the team, her role will be to provide blistering starts to her team as an opener.

Counting on her international experience and skills, the team will also look forward to getting some impactful performances from her. For the 17-year-old Gunaratne, this World Cup will be an opportunity to showcase her skills.

So far, Gunaratne has played nine Women’s T20I games for Sri Lanka, in which she has scored 104 runs at a strike rate of 75.91. She has played two WODIs too.
