Top 4 Unmissable Epic Father-Son Cricket Incidents in History
In the history of the sport, some intriguing father-son incidents have occurred that attracted a lot of eyes.
3. Subhash Modi gives decision against son Hitesh Modi
Former Kenya cricketer Subhash Modi was active in international cricket as an umpire until 2010. He was seen moderating a lot of matches between associate nations. In his nine-year career, he stood in 32 international matches (23 one-day internationals and nine T20 internationals).
In 2006, when Bangladesh toured Kenya for three ODIs, Subhash was an on-field umpire in all three games. Interestingly, his son Hitesh Modi was playing for Kenya in the series. In the second ODI between both sides, Mashrafe Mortaza picked up three wickets and helped the Bangla side register a two-wicket win.
Mashrafe’s one of the four victims was Hitesh, who was dismissed through leg-before-wicket (lbw) in the 14th over of the game. The decision against Hitesh was given by his father Subhash, whom Mashrafe appealed to after the ball hit the striker’s pad. It is the only incident in the history of cricket when a father delivered a decision against his son.
