An all-time classic match in the Asia Cup tournament, Afghanistan faced off against a red-hot India in the last Super 4s encounter in Dubai in Asia Cup 2018.

Afghanistan chose to bat after winning the toss and opener Mohammad Shahzad entertained the crowd with a scintillating 124 with 7 sixes and 11 fours, the first century by an Afghan batter against India in ODIs. The Afghan team put on 252/8 with Mohammad Nabi hammering 64 runs down the order.

In response, KL Rahul and Ambat Rayudu hit half-centuries and added 110 runs for the first wicket. But then Afghan bowlers struck as the Indian middle order faltered despite Karthik’s 44. With 13 runs needed in the last two overs, Ravindra Jadeja took most of the strike.

But Aftab Alam bowled a banger of an over, taking two wickets and giving away only 6 runs. Rashid Khan bowled the last over with 7 needed and Jadeja hit a four off the second ball and the equation came down after a couple of singles to 1 run needed off 2 balls. But on the penultimate ball, Jadeja went for a glory hit instead of dabbing for a single and was out caught at midwicket, with India being bowled out for 252 runs and the match ended in a tie.
