In one of the most entertaining matches, India needed to win against Pakistan in this match to qualify for the final of the Asia Cup 2014. Misbah Ul Haq won the toss and put India into bat. Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, and Ravindra Jadeja scored half-centuries to propel India to 245/8 against a good Pakistani attack.

Saeed Ajmal starred with 3/40, while Mohammad Hafeez and Mohammad Talha took 2 wickets each. Despite Mohammad Hafeez’s 75 runs, India had a tight grip on the match as Pakistan needed 13 runs in 12 balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an excellent over picking two wickets and giving way just 3 runs.

Pakistan needed 10 runs in the last over and Virat Kohli gave the ball to R Ashwin, who removed Saeed Ajmal on the first ball and India was one wicket away from the win. But then with 9 needed off the last 3 balls, Ashwin couldn’t handle the pressure against Shahid Afridi. Afridi hoicked him for two consecutive sixes as Pakistan won by one wicket and qualified for the final.
