Rohit Sharma is arguably one of the prolific openers in the history of limited-overs cricket. Known for his devastating striking, Rohit is currently the fourth-highest run-scorer in Indian Premier League (IPL) with over 6000 runs. Although the 36-year-old's name is not associated much with batting records in the cash-rich league, he has made a name for himself as the most successful captain. From replacing Ricky Ponting as Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper midway through the 2013 season to joining Sachin Tendulkar as the face of the franchise, what Rohit has done for them in the last 10 years has been unparalleled. Apart from the record of leading MI to glory five times, he also holds many other records in the tournament. Notably, in the 17th edition of the IPL, Rohit is set to represent the Mumbai-based franchise as a pure batter the 'Hitman' might break some records this time around. Most centuries for MI, second-most IPL centuries by an Indian Only six Mumbai Indians batters have scored a century in the last 16 years and they have done it only once. Sanath Jayasuriya was the first player to score a ton for MI, in the 2008 edition. Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Lendl Simmons, Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav are the other players have reached the three-figure mark in the league. Rohit is just one century away to achieve the record for most hundreds for MI. However, he will have competition from Suryakumar for the same. RCB's Virat Kohli (7) and GT's captain Shubman Gill (3) are currently the first and second in the list of Indian players with the most IPL centuries. Player with most number of IPL trophies Rohit Sharma has won a total of six IPL trophies to date. His first triumph was with the Hyderabad-based franchise Deccan Chargers in 2009. He was later recruited by Mumbai Indians and appointed as their captain in the 2013 season, the same year in which he won his second title. The veteran cricketer went on to win four more as the MI skipper, in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Ambati Rayudu shares the record with Rohit with six IPL titles. Rayudu was a part of the MI squad in 2013, 2015 and 2017 and won three titles with CSK in 2018, 2021 and 2023. The new MI captain Hardik Pandya, CSK captain MS Dhoni and ace MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah are at the third position with five titles. Highest individual score by an Indian player in IPL Remember Chris Gayle storm at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Pune Warriors in IPL 2013? The Windies giant set Bengaluru on fire with a sensational 175* off just 66 balls. It remains the highest individual score and looks set to continue for years to come. Meanwhile, among Indians, the feat is held by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul (132* against RCB in 2020). Other Indian players in the top five list are Shubman Gill (129), Rishabh Pant (128), Murali Vijay (127) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (124). Rohit's highest score is 109* off 79 balls, which came against KKR in IPL 2012. There is every possibility that he could set the record for the highest individual score by an Indian player in IPL in the upcoming edition. 2. Most runs in an IPL season for MI It is quite surprising that despite completing 6000 runs, Rohit has never won the Orange Cap in the history of the IPL. More than his impact with the bat, his captaincy brilliance has been MI's beacon of hope over the years. The right-hander is yet to cross the 600-run mark in a single season as his highest tally is is 538 in 2013 IPL. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar leads the chart for most runs in a season for MI, with 618 from 15 matches in 2010 IPL.
