The Australian cricket team has endured a major hindrance as ace pacer Mitchell Starc has opted out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to personal reasons. However, his wife, Alyssa Healy, has reassured fans that Starc is doing well and will be great. She also mentioned that he has bowled largely, especially after playing on the recent tour of Sri Lanka.

When asked about Starc’s choice on the Willowtalk podcast, Healy responded with a playful note, "Don’t look at me, I don’t know anything about it, I haven’t asked him about it yet."

Acclaiming concerns over his fitness, Healy securely dismissed any speculation about a major injury, instead focusing that the left-arm pacer simply needed a break after months of relentless bowling."He’s fine, everyone. I am fine more importantly. Yeah, we are fine, move on," she said with a smile.

Meanwhile, Healy herself is set to miss the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 due to an injury.  Australian selector George Bailey also studied in on Starc’s absence, expressing full backing for his decision.  "We understand and respect Mitch’s decision. Mitch is deeply respected for his commitment to international cricket and the priority he places on performing for Australia," said Bailey.

Acknowledging Starc’s history of playing through pain and crunch, Bailey praised his commitment to the national team, even at the cost of other different opportunities.

"His well-documented ability to play through pain and adversity, as well as forgoing opportunities in other parts of his career to put his country first, should be applauded. His loss is, of course, a blow for the Champions Trophy campaign but does provide an opportunity for someone else to make a mark on the tournament," Bailey concluded.
