1. Mohammad Ashraful vs West Indies, ICC World T20 2007

Bangladesh faced the West Indies in the fifth game of the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007. After being put to bat, Ramnaresh Sarwan & co. scored 164 runs in 20 overs with Devon Smith (51 runs off 52 deliveries) top-scoring for them. Shakib was the pick of the bowlers for the Bangla Tigers, bagging four wickets for 34 runs.

Bangladesh, in response, lost their openers early and were 28 for 2 in four overs. The asking rate was creeping up and the target was looking improbable. But the skipper Mohammad Ashraful had other plans. He took the West Indies bowlers to the cleaners and brought his side within touching distance of the target.

Ashraful’s stunning knock of 61 runs in mere 27 deliveries consisted seven fours and three maximums. As a result, a target that appeared daunting at one stage was chased down with two overs to spare. The Dhaka-born was awarded the Player of the Match for his magnificent innings.
