Top 5 Teams with most victories in IPL history

In 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) came into existence, and with that, eight teams also came into being. By roping in star cricketers of that time namely Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Yuvraj Singh etc, the domestic T20 competition became the biggest cricketing league in the world. Until today, if anything has changed in the league, it is the names of cricketing stars ruling the tournament and the league’s popularity, which has only surged over the years.   

Talking about the performance of the teams in these fifteen years, until 2022,  fifteen franchises have participated in the league but only seven have got success in achieving the title and five have only been able to register minimum 100 wins in the league. While the most interesting fact about these sides with minimum 100 victories is that they are also the most successful teams of the IPL in terms of the most wins in the league.

5. Delhi Capitals (100 wins)

Delhi Capitals (DC) (Formerly Delhi Daredevils) are playing the IPL since 2008  when the league started and till now, they are yet to win a title. In 2020, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, they came close to winning the trophy but Mumbai Indians spoiled their plans by defeating them in the final by five wickets.

In their 15 seasons in the league, there was a time when the DC went through their difficult phase by failing to qualify for playoffs for six consecutive seasons from 2013 to 2018. In 2019, the DC management rebuilt the team by getting quality players and appointing Sourav Ganguly as official advisor. With these major changes, they also received a positive outcome as the team after seven years qualified for the playoffs in 2019 by winning nine games out of 14 in the group stages.

Since 2019, their graph has also improved, and now, they are looking to get their hands on the trophy in 2023. But currently, what would delight the DC fans is that despite having a very tough period between 2013-2018, their team has made it to the list of the franchises with the most wins, by bagging 100 victories in 224 games. With this record, they stand in the fifth position among teams with most victories in the IPL.
