In the 2003 World Cup game against England, former Pakistan pace sensation Shoaib Akhtar bowled the fastest delivery of all time. Against the batter Nick Knight, Akhtar clocked 161.3 km/hr and became the speedster to bowl the fastest delivery in the history of the sport. So far, no bowler has gone past his record of the fastest delivery. However, former Australian pacers, Brett Lee and Shaun Tait, came close to his record as they also bowled deliveries that exceeded the speed of 160km/hr.

Currently, the Rawalpindi Express is ruling the list of the fastest delivery record with his 2003 World Cup delivery. However, he may not head the chart for a long time as the new Indian pacer has displayed his capability to shatter the former Pakistan speedster’s record with his back-to-back fast deliveries. In the upcoming years, eyes will be set on this Indian youngster as Indian fans are expecting him to wreak havoc on batters with his blazing speed. Before this youngster, some other Indian bowlers also rocked international cricket and Indian Premier League (IPL) with their fastest balls.

5. Navdeep Saini for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2019

In the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL), Navdeep Saini pulled off an incredible record for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a contest against Mumbai Indians (MI). The speedster bowled a delivery of 152.85 km/hr, which is considered one of the fastest balls by any Indian in the history of the tournament.

Saini's record for the fastest delivery withstood the test of time for three long years until it was finally broken in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League by an uncapped Indian pacer. Currently, the Karnal-born holds the record for the second fastest delivery in the league by an Indian bowler.

Witnessing his sheer pace, the selectors gave him a chance in the national team. Of all three formats, his IPL experience helped him to fare well in T20 Internationals. With 13 wickets in 11 T20I matches at an economy of 7.15, he looked decent in an Indian jersey.
