The year 2024 turned out to be another memorable year for cricket enthusiasts as there was a lot of intense cricketing action that enthralled fans around the world. In this article, we take a look at the top five players who hit the most number of sixes in international cricket in the calendar year.

5. Andries Gous (USA)

Andries Gous played some fine knocks for the USA during the T20 World Cup 2024 in June. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 850 runs from 28 matches at an average of 34 and a strike rate of 136. He hit 79 boundaries and 44 sixes during the year. His highest score of 81 came against Namibia off 50 balls. Gous smashed four fours and six sixes in his match-winning knock.

UAE's Asif Khan played a total of 27 matches and hit 61 fours and 46 sixes in 2024. He scored 825 runs at a decent average of 35.86 and an impressive strike rate of 123.31. His highest score in the year of 79 came against Saudi Arabia off 53 balls in the Gulf Cricket T20I Championship 2024 at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. The right-handed batter hit three fours and five sixes during the valiant knock but UAE eventually lost by 11 runs.

3. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Afghanistan), Babar Hayat (Hong Kong)

Afghanistan's talented wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz had a splendid year in international cricket in 2024. He slammed 87 fours and 50 sixes during the year. Gurbaz played 33 matches across formats and amassed 1101 runs at an average of 32.38 and a strike rate of 99.08. He registered three centuries and seven half-centuries, including a highest score of 121 off 117 deliveries against Ireland in Sharjah.

Experienced Hong Kong batter Babar Hayat played 27 matches and belted 31 fours and 30 sixes. He finished the year with an aveage of 31, scoring 651 runs. However, his strike rate was a staggering 137.34. Hayat aggregated three fifties and a solitary century in 2024. His highest individual score was the 110 he scored against Nepal off just 49 balls in Mongkok.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal (India), Travis Head (Australia)

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a sensational year with the bat as he played some memorable knocks in T20I and Test cricket. In 23 matches (37 innings), the aggressive left-handed batter scored 1,771 runs at an average of 52.08 and a strike rate of 76.96. He registered his highest Test score of 214 not out against England in Rajkot. The 23-year-old finished the year with 200 fours and 52 sixes in his kitty. He added 11 half-centuries and three centuries to his name in 2024.

Travis Head had shown in previous years that he was an exceptional Test batter with the skills to thrive in ODI cricket as well. However, 2024 turned out to be the year in which he displayed his prowess in the shortest format for Australia. In the 29 matches, the 31-year-old scored 1399 runs at an average of 42.39 and a strike rate of 114.29. He notched up five half-centuries and four centuries in the year. Head managed to hit 162 fours and 52 sixes in the year.

UAE captain Muhammad Waseem hit the most number of sixes in 2024. The 30-year-old smashed 83 fours and 61 sixes in the calendar year from 37 matches. He scored 1110 runs at an average of 32.64 and a strike rate of 127.14. The right-handed batter slammed one century and eight half-centuries in the year. His highest score in 2024 of 100 came off just 56 balls against Oman in the final of the ACC Premier Cup in Muscat and it gave UAE Asia Cup qualification.
