The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League started on 22nd March 2025. 19 matches have been played so far this season with every team playing at least three matches each. Only two weeks of IPL action has been completed so far and there are plenty of matches still left in the tournament. In the two weeks so far, some sections of fans believe it has not been able to evoke the kind of interest that it used to in previous editions. In this article, we look at three reasons why IPL is getting less interesting.

Here are the 3 reasons why IPL is getting boring day by day -

3. Lack of close matches and too many one-sided games

Out of the 19 matches played so far this season, around 15 of the games can be said to have been one-sided and lacked the ebbs and flows or twists and turns. Delhi Capitals against Lucknow Super Giants was the only memorable close game, where Delhi won the game in the last over in a thrilling chase. CSK losing against RR was another one that went down the wire, but apart from those two games, the rest of the matches have been very much one-sided.

Usually, fans want to see a competitive game with both sides throwing the punches and the result possibly going either way till the fag end of the innings. But so far this season, teams have either defended comfortably or chased easily, and there have been no coming-from-behind victories apart from the Delhi game against Lucknow. This could be one of the major reasons the IPL has been boring this season.
