WPL: 10 players who might bag big bucks at auction
The much-awaited Women’s Premier League is reported to be played from March 4 to 24 and the player auction is likely to be conducted on February 11 or 13.
1. Sophie Devine
Sophie Devine is one of the finest all-rounders in world cricket at the moment. The 33-year-old has accumulated 2950 runs in 115 T20Is at a strike rate of 122.00 and picked up 109 wickets at an economy of 6.34. She has proven her mettle in the ODIs as well, plundering 3330 runs in 134 matches and taking 89 scalps for New Zealand.
Devine has taken the attack to the opposition right from the get-go and provided the White Ferns with brisk starts on a consistent basis. On the bowling front, the veteran all-rounder has displayed the ability to ball to bowl at any phase of the innings.
In addition to her all-round credentials, Devine is a proven leader in the T20 circuit, having been the commander-in-chief in the international arena and also in T20 leagues such as WBBL and The Hundred Women’s competition. Thus, given what the New Zealand skipper brings to the table, many franchises might go all guns blazing to sign her at the auction.
