1. Handing over captaincy reins to Heather Knight
Royal Challengers Bangalore went all guns blazing to sign Smriti Mandhana at the WPL 2023 auction and spent a staggering sum of INR 3.4 crore to acquire her services. Mandhana is India’s designated vice-captain and led the national side when Harmanpreet Kaur has been unavailable. So, RCB handed the leadership duties to the flamboyant batter.
However, Mandhana has been conservative with her tactics and approach on the field and has failed to meet the franchise's expectations. Under her leadership, RCB have succumbed to three consecutive comprehensive defeats and are languishing at the bottom of the table.
Moreover, Mandhana has not been at her best with the bat and it has appeared that the captaincy has taken a toll on her batting performance. She has managed just 76 runs in three outings in the T20 carnival. Therefore, the Bangalore franchise could ponder over handing the leadership duties to Knight.
Knight is an astute tactician of the game and has proven her captaincy credentials in the international arena time and time again. Thus, RCB could entertain the thought of a captaincy change.
